뿌리 깊은 나무는 바람에 아니 뽑히고 원천이 깊은 물은 가뭄에 아니 마르나니, 인생 생활에 신앙은 뿌리요 수행은 원천이라, 신앙이 깊은 생활은 아무러한 역경 난경에도 꿋꿋하여 굽히지 아니할 것이요 수행이 깊은 생활은 어떠한 유혹에도 초연하여 평온함을 얻나니라. – 정산 종사 법어, 권도편 4장

A deep-rooted tree is not uprooted by the wind, and a well fed by a deep spring does not dry up in a drought. The root of human life is religious faith, and the spring of human life is practice. The life with deep faith will not bend under any hardship and adverse condition, and the living with deep practice will transcend any temptation and attain tranquility. – Master Chongsan
